The Transporter

Much like the cars in the 2002 film, The Transporter is just on the cusp of classic recognition. Although it’s not known for its scintillating dialogue, there’s enough action, car chases, and general chaos to keep you entertained. Jason Statham plays Frank Martin, a former Special Forces operative based in the French Mediterranean, and who specialises in the transportation of people and illicit goods. He’s forced to go on the run after he violates his own code, by actually looking at one of his packages. Martin uses a 1995 BMW 750i in the film – which in real life only ever came with an automatic gearbox. In the film, a six-speed manual gearbox from a BMW 850CSi was installed, which apparently made the incredible stunt scenes easier to make. Incidentally, Statham, an ex-British National Diving Team member, performed many of these stunts himself. Watch out for a flaming Ford Scorpio, a smoking Renault 5, and a screeching Saab 900. Murray scullion
