What I es­pe­cially en­joy about the pub­lic­ity for Bri­tish cars of this era is the over­whelm­ing sense of jol­lity. You can al­most hear every­one in this il­lus­tra­tion of a Hum­ber Su­per Snipe ut­ter­ing the word ‘gosh’. An­other com­mon trope in mo­tor­ing pub­lic­ity from the early 1950s is the use of il­lus­tra­tions with an in­ter­est­ing in­ter­pre­ta­tion of scale. In this ex­am­ple of master­ful Rootes Group ad­ver­tis­ing, the Su­per Snipe looks al­most as large as a dou­ble-decker bus.
