I have long been fas­ci­nated by the sep­a­rate pub­lic­ity for BMC’s mar­ques, as demon­strated by this cam­paign for the A55 Cam­bridge MkII. It’s a ver­i­ta­ble mini soap opera, as the fam­ily of Mr Austin ex­press their re­lief that he has not bought a lesser mar­que. The Mor­ris Ox­ford Se­ries V brochure, mean­while, whis­pers ‘As crisp as the morn­ing air’, ac­com­pa­nied by copy slightly rem­i­nis­cent of Tony Han­cock’s The Po­etry So­ci­ety.
