PET SOUNDS BY THE BEACH BOYS
Good Vibrations was indeed a hit for The Beach Boys in 1966 but their gamechanging album Pet Sounds was a real achievement that year. It has often been said that without it The Beatles might not have produced Sgt. Pepper the following, year, but like the notable change in the sound of the Fab Four, Pet Sounds marked a great musical shift for the fast maturing Boys. The songs of Brian Wilson had moved on from the surfing hits to hot rod cars that had provided their trademark with some deep, emotional masterpieces such as Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder) and Wouldn’t It Be Nice.
