GRAMPIAN TRANSPORT MUSEUM

Alford, Aberdeenshire, AB33 8AE Admission: £10 If you were a fan of the television series

For the Love of Cars, then a trip north of the border will provide you with the opportunity to see one of this museum’s star exhibits – the Rover SD1 police car that show presenters Ant Anstead and Philip Glenister rescued and restored. It looks even better in the metal than it did on screen and is a real treat for fans of classic emergency vehicles. And there’s lots more to see, including collections dedicated to the Swinging 60s and racing hero, Guy Martin. The vintage steam vehicles are especially enjoyable – don’t miss the Birkhall portable steam engine that once earned its living in a sawmill on the royal Balmoral estate – and plenty of the exhibits are hands-on, so the kids will be kept entertained, too. gtm.org.uk 01975 562292
