Bonny Brits steal the show

Stunning heartland British classics fly off the rostrum at mid-week sale

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

A13,000-mile 1970 Jaguar E-type took the top price accolade at Brightwells’ summer sale. The threeowner Opalescent Blue FHC made a premium-inclusive £59,950, closely followed by a very tidy Mercedes-Benz 250 SL at £59,400. Scaling down the value tree a little, a 1979 AC 3000ME in need of paint was still good value at £24,200, while for the use-ratherthan-show owner, a slightly scruffy 1966 Alvis TF21 automatic raised a commendable £25,300.

There was plenty to like, including a 1950 Land Rover 80” (£20,350), a well-presented Triumph 2500S saloon (£7150) and a 1972 Peugeot 504 coupé which, at £6600, was excellent value. While there were some non-selling surprises, this was a pleasing mid-week sale nevertheless.

Brightwells’ next classic and vintage sale is on 27 September.
