Vec­tis Vaux­halls raise a princely fig­ure

Match­box launched the ‘Models of Yes­ter­year’ range at the Har­ro­gate Toy Trade Fair in 1956 fea­tur­ing good qual­ity models of ear­lier ve­hi­cles. The Vec­tis sale on 11 July fea­tured nu­mer­ous scarce vari­a­tions and pre­pro­duc­tion models, some of which were bought from the very first Vec­tis auc­tions held on the Isle of Wight that made their way into a col­lec­tion named af­ter the is­land.

Among the rar­i­ties on of­fer were two Y2 Prince Henry Vaux­hall models. Both were in near-mint con­di­tion. The

colour scheme was dark blue body and chas­sis, sil­ver bon­net, and red seats. They sold for £220 each.
