All-star A35 race teams confirmed
Olympic champions, chart-topping musicians, and former professional racers will be on the star-studded grid for the inaugural Celebrity Challenge Trophy Race at the Silverstone Classic on 28-30 July.
The big-name line-up features five gold medal-winning athletes, including Sir Chris Hoy, who is now a professional racing driver, and Jason Kenny CBE.
Famous musicians are out in force, too, most notably Howard Donald from Take That and former AC/DC frontman, Brian Johnson.
Former professional racing drivers include former F1 star, Mark Blundell, Martin Donnelly, Rupert Keegan, former Top Gear presenter, Tiff Needell and former BTCC stars, Anthony Reid and Steve Soper.
The VIPs will be racing in a field of Austin A30 and A35 saloons from the late Fifties. The cars have been provided by members of the Historic Racing Drivers’ Club (HRDC) Academy that has its own race on the Sunday.
The celebrity teams will qualify and race on Saturday, and have the opportunity of winning the charity prize fund of £10,000 for the event’s official charity, Prostate Cancer UK. silverstoneclassic.com
