‘WE JUST LOVE THE VARIETY’
Here’s a pair of MG Car Club members from opposite ends of the country. Steve Davies from Cheltenham in Gloucestershire (left) is the owner of a 1967 MGB roadster, while Mike Howlett from Troon in Ayrshire (right) has a 1969 MGB GT which he’s beefed up with a Range Rover 3.9-litre, fuelinjected V8.
Mike explains: ‘2003 was when I bought it. Because I was at work it took me a long time to build it – about six years in total, but then I retired and got it finished. Since then it’s done 30,000 miles and has been to the South of France and all over Scotland. I use it every day.’
Speaking about his roadster, Steve said: ‘This one’s very much the same spec as how it came, so it’s still running on an
unleaded head. no modifications at all really, everything’s original.’
talking about silverstone, steve says: ‘it’s a nice run across the costwolds getting here. what i love is the cross-section and variety of cars on show. the Mgb isn’t my only car as i’ve also got a Porsche boxster.’ Mike adds: ‘Me too – i’ve got a bMw Z3.’
