General Lee ‘caught’

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

An image depicting a ‘General Lee’ replica being ‘pulled over’ by the police has found internet fame – receiving thousands of re-tweets and likes on Twitter and Facebook and other social media sites.

The Dodge Charger had actually broken down and was being assisted by officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit. The Dukes of Hazzard-style car was en route home after attending the Rods ‘n’ Sods Revs & Rhythms classic car show in Bedfordshire on 22 July.

An officer says: ‘ This classic was simply having a bad day and had broken down. While waiting for breakdown assistance the owner requested the photo opportunity for his own records – understandably – and we were happy to oblige. The car was fully road legal and no offences had been committed.’
