DAVID SIMISTER

1953 MERCEDES-BENZ 170SD In a show dominated by Brit saloons and sports cars, Bob Coxshall’s dervhauled Mercedes stopped me in my tracks. Bob has owned it for 43 years, and isn’t afraid to use it, campaigning it in the Mercedes-Benz Veteran Club’s rally in Germany recently.

JAMES SADLIER MANAGING EDITOR

1972 JAGUAR E-TYPE SII Before Pete Stabler was able to begin restoration work, his garage collapsed onto his E-type destroying half the bodywork. Thankfully the insurance settlement allowed him to keep the car and pay for the restoration, much of which he undertook himself.

CHRIS HOPE FEATURES EDITOR

1988 OPEL MANTA GTE No ordinary Manta, this is 2.0-litre GTE belonged to Ian Furness and was entered into the 1991 RAC World Championship Lombard Rally. Its current owner, Alan Wells, bought the car 20 years ago and has treated it to two separate restorations, the most recent being earlier this year, restoring its original factory colour paint.

NICK LARKIN EDITOR AT LARGE

1960 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE This extraordinary beast was the glorious swansong for wild, chromeladen, rocket-look, American madness. It’s impractical in every way, and hardly great for cornering or even storing in 2017 Britain, but what a beautiful and precious object!
