1977 Daimler Double Six Coupé
A very well cared-for example rather than being restored, Silverstone’s range-topping Double Six Coupé was low-key suaveness personified. It had changed hands several times after being sold by its original London owner in 1983, but despite that it had never covered any serious mileage, coming to the sale with 33,000 miles on the clock. The bodywork, paint and interior belied both its age and number of owners, and it was surely the best XJ-derived Coupé coming to auction in many years. Simply delightful in every respect, and still arguably more interesting and desirable than a Corniche fixed-head.
