Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

The day after SWVA sold a low-mileage, original condition D-plate 28,000-miler 280 for £34,560, Silverstone responded with a lightly refinished, 14,000 miles-from-new E-plate example that had been, in the auctioneer’s words, re-finished, i.e., correct in every department but, in some ways, better than when it rolled off the production line. The result was a stunning example, not because it had the over-shininess of a fully-restored concours car, but because it had a showroom floor freshness. Paint, body, interior and underside were in marvellous order – enough to warrant a £35,00045,000 estimate, but punters thought this one good enough to keep the bidding going to £55,125.
