WHAT TO LOOK FOR
All P4s have leather trim, so make sure it isn’t damaged, because a full retrim costs around £3000 and replacement Wilton carpets are £360 a set. The braking system suffers from perished master cylinder seals and sheared wheel cylinder bleed nipples; P5 items go straight on and improve braking. Servos on post1956 P4s can suffer from perished seals, but rebuild kits are available. It’s not an easy job, so many owners opt for a rebuilt servo, which costs around £200.
