Britain’s Heritage – Morris Minor £8.99
Gillian Bardsley presents a charming, fact-filled volume on a car that you’d think would need no introduction by now. But rather like the cars themselves, this social historian with a special interest in the British motor industry manages to pack a lot into a compact package.
The author describes the pre-war predecessors and major figures in the story, including Morris founder and company chairman, Lord Nuffield, who had no enthusiasm for the project. Every model and variation is discussed, accompanied by a fine selection of BMC archive period illustrations.
If you are just falling under the Morris Minor’s spell, then this ideal, inexpensive paperback can only add to the magic. David Brown
