5 ways to make it better

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Buying & Selling -

1 ADD AN ALTERNATOR

All of these Westminsters came with a dynamo, but it’s easy to swap to an alternator instead. An array of Lucas units will fit.

2 SWAP THE ENGINE

You could fit a later (2.9-litre) C-series engine but these aren’t as durable as the 2.6-litre units (and the 2.6 is powerful enough).

3 UPGRADE ITS DIFF

For more relaxed cruising you can fit a back axle from a Big ‘Healey or an A110 Westminster, both of which have a high ratio. Talk to the club for pointers to specialists and an idea of cost.

4 ADD OVERDRIVE

Overdrive was optional on the A95 and A105. It’s worth having; you can fit a unit from a Farina Westminster or Big ‘Healey.

5 UPRATE ITS BRAKES

The all-drum brakes work okay, but swapping to a frontdisc system from a Big ‘Healey or Farina Westminster is worthwhile.
