Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - CONTENTS -

Producing one truly great vehicle is normally enough to immortalise a car designer, at least within enthusiast circles. But to be responsible for three of the most iconic, significant and best-selling British cars of all time quite rightly made Sir Alec Issigonis a household name of mid-century Britain. Even his ‘failures’ defined motoring for millions of Britons. With three decades having passed since his death on 2 October 1988, collective memory of the man himself may have faded somewhat, but his cars remain as popular and influential as ever. It’s time to recount the lesser-known stories behind Issigonis and the world-changing cars that he designed.
