GKN’s Jensen FF to go under the hammer

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

A Jensen FF once owned by engineering firm, GKN, is up for sale at Richard Edmonds Auctions’ 20 October sale in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

It was one of at least two FFs that GKN bought to assess the car’s four-wheeldrive system, which it later bought the rights to.

Now painted Alfa Romeo turquoise, the car’s body was restored by a previous owner. Though the car’s mechanicals are said to need recommissioning, it starts and drives and carries a pre-sale estimate of £45,000-£50,000.

Jensen Museum curator, Ulric Woodhams, said: ‘I’ve never been able to find out who at GKN actually drove the cars. I don’t think they were purchased for evaluation only. I think they were used as a directors’ car, with some evaluation going on in the background.’ ❚ richardedmondsauctions.com

Mechanicals and non-standard Alfa paint need attention.
