HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

I’ve owned this car since 1994. I bought it locally for £100 when it was nine years old. It had been hand-painted red but was complete and the original GT/E interior was in remarkable condition. I started the restoration the same year and fitted a new back panel, driver’s door and both front wings, all sourced from Vauxhall, which you could do 24 years ago. The rest of the body was stripped to bare metal and resprayed in Opel Carmine Red. Circumstances changed and the car was shelved at the back of the garage in dry storage for 20 years. In 2014 I was in a position to finish the nut and bolt restoration, only this time it was resprayed to a much higher standard.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

The car came with no history other than an MoT certificate. I applied for a Fee Paying Inquiry to the DVLA in 1994 (this was before internet) and have all information it held for its first nine years. I now have a large history file of all work and purchases over the last 24 years. The car is now only used during summer on dry days. I’ve found nothing to disbelieve the current mileage.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Nothing, because it was extensively restored four years ago including new tyres, all brake and fuel pipes. I would describe it as in showroom condition but it is not concours.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Only mods are Manta Exclusive twin headlights, rear bumper and backflash, plus I fitted a CD player. But I’ve kept all the original items so it could easily be put back to original.
