‘As new’ 944 up for grabs

Put away in 1991, this Porsche has covered just 5036 miles. It’s now for sale

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

A timewarp Porsche 944 Lux has been put up for sale in Surrey, by the owner who bought it new as a weekend car 30 years ago.

Owner Barry used the 944 – latterly recognised as a classic transaxle Porsche – for just over three years before his work commitments changed. With the car then seeing little use, he put it away in storage before it was due its first MoT, having covered 5036 miles.

‘I have the last tax disc bought for the car – it’s dated 31 August 1991,’ Barry said. Since then, he has regularly started the car, and replaced its fuel pump and filter.

‘It fell into disuse when I began working in Singapore. I’ve done everything I can to keep everything ticking over and running correctly, but now that it’s a classic, it needs the right person to come along and give it a new lease of life.

‘ There can’t be many 944s left like it now, it’s very original and has seen very little UV light, so the Guards Red paint and interior are still as new.’

Barry has the car listed for £34,000.
