Brightwells’ RM surprises the experts in latest online sale

Brightwells’ second online sale was a tidy offering that managed to combine numerous Land Rovers (which remain this auctioneer’s forté) with regular classics through to the more recent, including a 2003 Bentley Arnage T and a 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Flying the flag for more traditional classics was a 1951 Riley RMB which, at £19,712, was comfortably beyond its £16,000 upper estimate. A 1966 Mercedes-Benz 220SE sold for £7994, just below its £8000 upper estimate, while a 1963 Daimler SP250 made £27,440, which was behind its £30,000 lower estimate. In the pre-war area a 1937 Fiat 500 Topolino was sold for £7536.

In the classic bargain corner was a needing-work but believed-running 1971 Volvo 164 that was off for £952. It was joined by a 1999 MercedesBenz 300TE with comprehensive history that was off for £1176, while real bargain hunters might be disappointed to have missed the Vauxhall Carlton 2.6i Diplomat, MoT-tested until June, that was away for a premium-inclusive £700. ❚ 01568 611122 ❚ brightwells.com
