CHOOSE YOUR ASTON MARTIN DB7
Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1993 with sales starting for the ’94 model year, Aston’s ‘affordable’ coupé is powered by an Eaton-supercharged 3.2-litre version of Jaguar’s AJ6 engine, developed by TWR.
The Volante version follows in 1996. Mechanically, the roadster is the same, but the electric hood and extra chassis strengthening add 75kg to the car’s weight.
1999 sees the introduction of 5.9-litre V12 Vantage coupé with a convertible Vantage Volante version appearing the same year.
With strong interest in the V12, production of the straight-six ends in May 1999. Manufacture of the 12-cylinder cars continues until 2004. Just 879 of the 2449 sixes built are Volantes.
