The Return of Project Suzuki Stinger

Classic Motorcycle Mechanics - - WORKSHOP CMM -

No it’s not a mirage, it only looks like one... Project Stinger is back and this is probably part 78…

Long, long ago in a land far away a middle-aged man once had a dream of restoring an old Suzuki motorcycle. Sometime later that decade a much older man tripped over a box of parts, which reawakened his desire to get the strange device up and running. No folks, it’s not a fairy tale, Project Stinger is back up on The Bench of Butchery! Moving house halfway through a resto was not my sharpest move and even though I stored all the parts ready to rock and roll some stuff inevitably got misplaced. Without a workshop the Stinger sat in madam’s conservatory but finally we are back on track and, against the odds I’ve managed to find almost everything I believe I packed away safely. I’ve long been a fan of building sub-assemblies ready to be installed as the opportunity presents itself. This way it’s possible to see just how far you’ve progressed and get that all-important morale boost. With the reawakening of Project Stinger the catalyst was a workshop tidy up. In a box and under wraps were the rebuilt engine and the refurbished engine covers. There was a; “it won’t take long to drop that motor in the frame” moment and suddenly the spanners were out, various parts were located and we were back on task. So, revved up and tooled up, Project Stinger hopefully gets back on track.
