Classic Motorcycle Mechanics - - BUYER'S GUIDE -

Well this is where it all started for me. In January 1991 my father purchased my first bike for me; a 1988 TS50X for the grand sum of £385. After a few weeks working together on the bike it was ready to go, unfortunately temptation got the better of me and I got caught riding it on the road at the age of 15 and that was almost the end of my motorcycling career before it had even begun. After restoring my DT50MX I wanted to get a TS50 to restore with my father, sadly he passed away before I could find a suitable bike as these early TSS don’t seem to turn up very often. However, the finished article was dedicated to him and I’m sure he would have been proud of the end result. The TS was a lot easier to restore compared to the DT as a lot more parts seem to be available (genuine Suzuki) although the prices can be a little rich but the staff at Robinsons Suzuki are very knowledgeable. It took around two years to restore the bike mainly due to the number of other projects I have on the go but I’m really pleased with the bike it’s nice to have a bit of my motorcycling history in the garage!
