Kev Howell’s Suzuki GSX750 ET

Classic Motorcycle Mechanics - - SHOW US YOURS -

I’m looking to retire soon, so decided to take on a bike to do up in my spare time. This really caught my eye: a Suzuki GSX 750ET. I bought it last October as a non-runner with seized brakes and have spent the past 10 months restoring it. It was one owner from new with only 20k on the clocks, but had been dry stored since 1989. Still, it was a project I was more than willing to take on. Before stripping it down I wanted to make sure it ran, so I had the carbs cleaned, replaced the jets and replaced the red sludge that was in the tank masquerading as petrol. It fired into life, which was a great feeling but her indoors couldn’t understand what the fuss was about! The paintwork was in very good condition but I had to have it redone as the decals were coming off. I replaced the 4-into-1 it had for an original system off ebay (it had a few light scratches, but it is 37-years-old!). While I’ve tried not to over-restore it, it’s been a long project, but I’m more than happy with the results.
