This motorcycle

This motorcycle is part of Steve Wheatman’s beautiful collection and is a XR94 RGV. Built in 1994, it was bought by Steve from a Japanbased dealer in 2011 and flown in from California where it was in storage. When Steve took delivery of the bike it was in the JAJA racing colours (blue and white) and was believed to be a 1994 Numata bike that had been sold on from the Suzuki factory GP team to JAJA when the new 54x54 bore stroke bikes came out in 1995. However, once Steve got the motorcycle to his garage in the UK he found that below the blue JAJA paint was still the Lucky Strike red lurking underneath. After checking the frame numbers and clarification of the bike’s specification with Suzuki’s database it turned out that this was one of the original 1994 Lucky Strike Suzukis. The bike was then restored during 2014 and initially used at a classic event at Cadwell park with Lee Johnston but that debut outing wasn’t quite the fairy tale end to the story with the XR suffering a minor technical power-valves issue on that outing.
