Classic Racer

Paddock Gossip

-

Malc’s been out and about and buried deep in conversation with many like minds for another slice of racing life from the four corners (plus that grubby bit by the bins) of the paddock. Here’s what he found out.

A top road racer with a career which spanned over three decades and then saw him become one of the sport’s most successful team managers, Neil Tuxworth will be the guest of honour at this April’s Stafford show. Lincolnshire mantuxworth raced with great success from the late 1960s until 1990 on the roads and short circuits in the UK and across Europe, including TT rostrums and a Manx Grand Prix victory. With his own career cut short by a life threatening crash at Aberdare Park in Wales, Neil turned his hand to team management with Honda, and in a long career gave them a string of World Superbike, British Superbike and Isle of MANTT victories, often working with some of the most difficult-to-manage riders in the sport. Tuxworth will be on stage and in the Classic Racer Grand Prix Paddock during both days of the show. As usual the Carole Nash International Classic Motorcycle Show, this year held over the weekend of April 21/22, boasts the Bonhams auction, with viewing on the Saturday and sale on Sunday. It’s one of the largest motorcycle auctions in the company’s calendar, and as Classic Racer went to press the machinery already assigned indicates they won’t disappoint.
