Four years on from the last ‘TT Comes to the Wheatsheaf’, fundraising event, the Louth pub created a TT paddock in the carpark to again raise funds for the TT Riders’ Association. Thanks to the generosity of locals and enthusiasts who travelled miles to offer support on the first wet day for weeks, £3,800 was raised for the charity. The weather might have been pants but the food was great, the beer better and the band played on. The small, but perfectly formed organising team of mine hosts Lin and Jim at the Wheatsheaf, and Julie and Malc Wheeler, are indebted to all the owners who provided exotic machinery (not one person failed to turn up, apart from the Manx Mafia who had no choice as all the boats failed to sail for four days); all the star riders past and present and most importantly the fans who stood in the rain and gave generously.
