Ginger Wildheart has been forced to postpone shows in Manchester and London after being hospitalised for “serious ongoing issues” with his mental health.

His management later revealed that he was “receiving around-the-clock care and is in the safest possible place”.

A report in Hot Press claimed that Ginger had spent a night in police custody following an altercation with an audience member at an acoustic show in Ireland. Ginger later tweeted that he had attempted suicide.

Last year Ginger recorded a track called Fuck You Brain with his friend Ryan Hamilton to highlight suicide prevention and raise mental health awareness, with proceeds going directly to the Samaritans.

The 52-year-old promised that a tour with his extreme band Mutation will take place in a few months, stating: “Music is a catharsis; a way of channelling the aggression and desperation that I’m currently experiencing.”

Classic Rock wishes Ginger well, and remember if you need to talk to somebody about a similar problem, contact the Samaritans by calling 116 123 or by visiting samaritans.org. The service is free. DL
