Autumn colours at Combe finale
Clubs turned out in force at the Castle Combe Autumn Classic (Sport, December 2017), with a vast range of vehicles from hot rods to youngtimers. The Riley Register fielded an impressive spread of machinery including a ’39 16hp ‘Big Four’ Kestrel coupé, a gorgeous two-tone two-door built on what must be a shortened ‘Blue Streak’ chassis. Nearby, there was a fine display of Hethel types from Club Lotus, the Historic Lotus Register and the Historic Lotus Club.
Among the sizeable Association of Healey Owners and Healey Drivers group was an Alvis-healey. Just 25 3-litre G-series were made, because it was overshadowed by what would become the Austinhealey 100. A fine Bristol Owners’ Heritage Trust turnout featured a glorious pre-war BMW 326 saloon.
