Tyre Wars: With development of the trials tyre going forward at a very fast rate in the early eighties the manufacturers from Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli would start to produce experimental compound tyres for their top riders. When the snow came in Spain and with it the very cold conditions Michelin would start work on two compounds of tyre; one for winter cold conditions and one for summer warm conditions. These tyres were the forerunner of the tubeless tyres used today.
