No one was ever go­ing to beat Steve Saun­ders in the cold wet win­try con­di­tions around Merthyr Tyd­fil in Wales. In be­tween sleet and snow show­ers he put on a world-class per­for­mance to take a very clear win from Tar­res. Other no­table rides came from North­ern Ire­land’s Harold Craw­ford on the Yamaha, who fin­ished eleventh be­hind Tony Scar­lett in tenth on the JCM.
