Ap­par­ently, there’s been a 360 per cent growth in ve­g­an­ism in the past ten years. This is fan­tas­tic. Last year I went on a health re­treat to Thai­land and I now try to make my diet mostly ve­gan, al­though I do have meat very oc­ca­sion­ally. It’s a fan­tas­tic life­style, and I feel younger, health­ier and more en­er­gised by eat­ing pre­dom­i­nantly plant-based food – though I do miss scram­bled eggs. The ve­gan com­mu­nity some­times criticise peo­ple who are only par­tially ve­gan, and some have a very “all-or-noth­ing” ap­proach to the diet. But that will just put off any­one giv­ing ve­g­an­ism a go – I think the more en­cour­ag­ing and open to flex­i­ble ve­g­an­ism they are, the more peo­ple will be in­clined to try it out.
