Wayne tells Coleen: “I’ll make you proud”

After a turbulent few months, pals say Coleen Rooney is rebuilding family life with husband Wayne

The state of her nineyear T marriage to Wayne Rooney has remained under scrutiny since his shock arrest in August for drink-driving on a night out with party girl Laura Simpson.

But last week, pregnant Coleen Rooney posted a photo of the footballer on her social media for the first time since the scandal, as part of a collage for their son Kai’s eighth birthday.

Wayne, 31 – who was given a two-year driving ban and 100 hours’ community service – also shared a photo of the birthday celebrations in their family home in Cheshire. The footballer – who Laura claimed she kissed and cuddled on the night out, though she later denied it happened – has publicly apologised to his family.

Sources say that after turning a corner, he’s determined to prove to Coleen, 31 – who also has four-year-old son Klay and 18-month old son Kit – that he’s a changed man.

A source says, “Coleen posted the photo of her and Wayne with Kai to draw a line under everything. Wayne has been determined to prove he’s changed and will do whatever it takes. With the new baby on the way, Coleen wants everything with her family to be on track for Christmas.

“She hasn’t made it easy for Wayne, but he’s tried really hard and has been spending plenty of time with the kids. He’s told her he’ll make her proud.

“She’s still not wearing her wedding ring, but while that’s a big deal for her, she’s agreed to put this behind them and work on their relationship.”
