Edit videos faster than ever

-

In Issue 504’s Best New Apps, we recommended Filmr - a free video-editing app for IOS ( www.snipca.com/24892). It’s one of the easiest editing apps we’ve used, though it has one one drawback - videos contain a small watermark at the bottom right. You can remove this for free for your first video, but it’s worth paying a one-off fee of £1.99 to remove watermarks from subsequent videos.

Install and open the app. You’ll see options to take a photo or shoot a video using your device’s camera. Alternatively, you can upload media files from your device. This displays all the photos on your device as tiles that you can tap to select. To select videos, tap the All Photos dropdown menu at the top, select Videos, tap the ones you want, then tap Next.

You’ll now see a preview pane at the top with your media files in a list (see screenshot below). To move a file, tap its thumbnail, then drag it up or down. To crop a video, drag its handles to the left or right. Drag the file’s thumbnail to the right to see options to delete, speed up, copy or rotate it.

The options at the top let you add more files, insert music from your device and change the videos’ aspect ratio (16:9 works best). When you’ve finished editing, tap the share icon at the top right, then tap the Save button. Wait for the video to finish processing, then play it. Tap the Filmr watermark at the bottom right to see options to remove it (from your first video) or pay £1.99 to remove watermarks from all your videos.
