Windows offers a few ways to make switching between programs easier, including the Alt+tab and Win+tab keyboard shortcuts. Fastwindowswitcher offers a novel alternative for those who like navigating with keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse clicks. Download and extract the zip file, then run Fastwindowswitcher. It doesn’t need to be installed and doesn’t display a program window. Instead, you’ll see a new icon (overlapping boxes) in your notification area. Press Fastwindowswitcher’s default shortcut Win+y (you can change this if you like) and you’ll see that every icon on your taskbar is assigned a letter (see screenshot). Simply press the letter on your keyboard to switch to the corresponding program, or launch it if it’s not currently running.
