How do I get old iphone buttons?

QIn the screenshots that accompanied your answer to Aiden Ingram about his slow iphone clock (Problems Solved, Issue 509), I noticed that the General link was a button. I find that interesting because on my iphone 7 they’re simply links — not buttons. Is this because you used an old iphone to take the screenshots? It made me realise how much I miss those old buttons: they’re much easier to see and tap than the iphone 7 links. Tommy Carter

AIn fact, we used an iphone 6s for those screenshots. However, there’s a littleknown option hidden away in the phone’s settings that enables these Button Shapes, as Apple calls them. They’re not quite the same design as the old buttons, which Apple killed with the introduction of IOS 7 in 2013, but they’re a pretty good option for those that dislike or struggle to use the modern, flat links that are now the default in IOS.

From the home screen launch Settings and then tap General followed by Accessibility. Now tap the switch next to Button Shapes to shift it to the On position (see screenshot).

You can switch your iphone to use buttons instead of the modern flat links
