£2,000 rebate for £79 ‘fee’

Over the years I’ve received many emails promising tax rebates. I know to delete and report them. It was more shocking recently to be phoned by a scammer claiming that he could get a £2,000 Council Tax rebate, for an upfront fee of £79. I wasn’t fooled, but the scammer spoke very good English and didn’t pressurise me, so I fear other people may fall victim. A £2,000 rebate is large enough to get your interest, and small enough to sound plausible.
