Save a file in multiple formats in one go
If you need to share your document with several people but you don’t know which program they use, Libreoffice has a handy extension that lets you save it in three formats (Libreoffice Writer, Microsoft Word and PDF) simultaneously.
To install it, open Libreoffice Writer, click the Tools tab, Extension Manager at the bottom, then click the ‘Get more extensions online’ link (at the bottom left). This opens the ‘Libreoffice Extensions and Templates’ web page. Type multisave in the search field at the top right and press Enter, then click the Multisave option on the search results page. Next, click the ‘starxpert_multisave1.3.0.oxt’ (current version number at the time of writing) link next to the Download icon.
Return to Libreoffice Writer, click the Tools tab, then Extension Manager. In the window that opens, click the Add button, navigate to the ‘starxpert_ multisave-1.3.0.oxt’ extension file in your Downloads folder, click Open, then restart Libreoffice.
You’ll now see a new multisave icon (see screenshot) at the top left (beside Libreoffice’s standard Save icon). Once you’ve finished typing your document, click this icon, then tick the boxes below the file formats you want it saved in. In the fields at the top, name the files and choose which folder you want to save them to, then click Save.
