Dual in the crown
I find myself writing to you to thank you for your timely review of budget mobile phones (Shopper 353). I’ve used a THL W9, a £220 dual-SIM Android phone with a 5.7in screen, sadly no longer available, which has served me well since September 2013. I’ve been looking to replace this because the rear camera lens has become scratched and unusable.
I want a dual-SIM phone to avoid carrying both a work and a private phone around, so was interested to see some phones in your review, such as the Honor 6X, Lenovo P2 and Oneplus 3T, which have dual-SIM capability. However, it wasn’t until delving into the fine detail on the internet that it was revealed that the second SIM card occupies the microSD card slot so you can mount either two SIMs or one SIM and an SD card, but not two SIMs and an SD card.
I eventually opted for a Motorola Moto G4, which although not described in the review, is available with two SIM slots and a micro-SD card slot, and thus far appears a very good phone.
Thanks again for an excellent magazine. Tim
