Microsoft reveals the Xbox One X
MICROSOFT IS BOASTING that its new Xbox One X console is the most powerful console in the world.
The product, formerly known as Project Scorpio, will cost £449 and will have at least 42 games backing it on release. Microsoft proclaimed that the new Xbox One X is designed to give the best experience to both gamers and developers.
“Xbox empowers game developers large and small to create different types of games for every type of player,” said head of Xbox, Phil Spencer.
“Not only do we have the biggest crossplatform blockbusters on our platform, we’ve also scoured the world to bring our fans unique content from creative artists that capture the imagination.”
Backwards compatibility is a big deal, and Spencer said that the console is retro-proof, meaning that gamers can draw on their existing collection of games, as well as the 4K titles designed for the Xbox One X.
A number of titles are exclusive to the console, including Deep Rock Galactic, a first-person shooter with dwarves, and some are exclusive to the console and Windows 10. These include Forza Motorsport 7, which Microsoft seems particularly proud of.
“The best-selling racing franchise of this console generation returns with Forza Motorsport 7. Experience the danger and beauty of competitive racing at its limits with the most comprehensive automotive game ever made,” the firm said.
“Drivers will experience gorgeous true 4K graphics at 60fps and true resolution in HDR within 30 famous environments, with race conditions that change each time you return to the track.”
