Some com­bi­na­tions in life are so wrong they turn out to be mys­ti­fy­ingly so right. We give you jam-and­cheese toasties (trust us), Doc Martens and slip dresses (thanks, Marc Ja­cobs), and the ro­man­tic mis­nomer that is Cameron Diaz and Benji Mad­den. Well, now there’s an­other to add to the list: pro­g­ri­gio – prosecco and pinot gri­gio, avail­able, pre-mixed, from Asda. Sure, it sounds like lu­nacy, but the trend for fus­ing drinks is com­ing (Jack Daniel’s has mixed cider with whisky; and vodquila is sadly a thing). Fancy mak­ing your own? Our friends at Lon­don’s Manetta’s Bar sug­gest this: 30ml of co­gnac, 30ml of red wine, 30ml of apri­cot liqueur and a dash of cherry bit­ters. Gar­nish with grapes. And maybe some Nuro­fen.
