In a time not so long ago (OK, around 2015), we thought vir­tual re­al­ity’s pri­mary pur­pose would be to let men watch porn on the morn­ing com­mute. Oh, how wrong we were. Now it’s thought to be a po­ten­tial saviour of our men­tal health. A study from Univer­sity Col­lege Lon­don found that by us­ing a se­ries of spe­cific VR sce­nar­ios, psy­chol­o­gists were able to im­prove de­pres­sion in their sub­jects. In ad­di­tion, apps such as Guided Med­i­ta­tion VR are be­ing used to help those with anx­i­ety to re­lax at home by trans­port­ing them to an en­vi­ron­ment of their choice via a head­set.
