Get ready to ‘YouTube and chill’ as new brands join the stream dream
If you feel like you’ve seen everything on Netflix, prepare for a new dawn, as major tech companies are jumping on the streaming bandwagon. YouTube has reportedly invested millions in original content in the past year, signing up Ellen DeGeneres and Jack Whitehall, while Facebook has created a new ‘Watch’ tab, which will feature documentaries and reality shows. And never one to be left out, Apple has now committed to a £3 billion spend on original programming, while Snapchat, which already has spin-off shows of The Bachelor and The Voice US, hopes to get its own shows on our phones by the end of the year. Finally, Netflix re-bingeing will be a thing of the past: new TV is here to save us from ourselves.
