How dating apps’ new tech could get you some action

Cosmopolitan (UK) - - Contents -

Fed up of meeting a first date, only to discover the ‘David’ they resemble is more Brent than Beckham? Then the introduction of video onto your favourite dating apps should be a welcome relief. You can now upload temporary stories on Bumble, share pre-recorded videos on Hinge and, rumour has it, Tinder will soon be getting in on the act, too. According to Cosmopolitan’s multimedia producer, Alex Hering, the best ‘date me’ productions include a simple background that conveys your personality – think a bookcase or artwork. Keep the camera at eye level, too, and remember: it’s most flattering to be lit from both sides. “Cloudy days offer naturally diffused lighting, which is ideal for filming,” says Hering. Lights, camera, (fingers crossed for) action.
