THE JOURNEY

The Cotswolds is vast and sprawling, so a car is ideal for getting to all the best bits. Car-less? Get the train to Stow-on-theWold and then take a 15-minute cab ride to Northleach.

THE JAUNTS

Head for breakfast at Daylesford Organic – a 25-minute drive away. With a restaurant, the best homewares store (you

will come away with at least a few plates and cashmere hotwater-bottle covers), a cookery school and spa, expect to spend a good few hours here. Bicester Village shopping outlet is a 40-minute drive away, but it’s really a mooch around the area’s honeycomb villages that you’re here for – try Chipping Campden (great cake shops), Stow (vintage furniture) and Bourton-on-theWater (obscenely pretty). Then it’s back to The Wheatsheaf for a beverage and a nap.
