David Vaisey Prize for li­braries

A drinks re­cep­tion was held at Glouces­ter Cathe­dral’s Par­lia­ment Rooms to an­nounce the short­list for the first David Vaisey Prize for Glouces­ter­shire Li­braries.

The David Vaisey Prize was es­tab­lished to en­cour­age young and old to read more, with the four short­listed li­braries be­ing Bream, Lon­glevens, Brock­worth and Tuf­fley, and Mat­son. The li­braries will now vie for the £5,000 top prize for a li­brary ini­tia­tive, while the three run­ners-up will each re­ceive £1,000.

The ini­tia­tive has been launched with sup­port from the Glouces­ter­shire Li­brary Ser­vices, the Booker Prize Foun­da­tion, the Hon­ourable Com­pany of Glouces­ter­shire, play­wright Alan Ben­nett, writer Jilly Cooper and lead­ing Glouces­ter­shire law firm, Wil­lans LLP among oth­ers.Š
