David Vaisey Prize for libraries
A drinks reception was held at Gloucester Cathedral’s Parliament Rooms to announce the shortlist for the first David Vaisey Prize for Gloucestershire Libraries.
The David Vaisey Prize was established to encourage young and old to read more, with the four shortlisted libraries being Bream, Longlevens, Brockworth and Tuffley, and Matson. The libraries will now vie for the £5,000 top prize for a library initiative, while the three runners-up will each receive £1,000.
The initiative has been launched with support from the Gloucestershire Library Services, the Booker Prize Foundation, the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire, playwright Alan Bennett, writer Jilly Cooper and leading Gloucestershire law firm, Willans LLP among others.
