We’re offering 15 people the chance to win a 60-minute Young Driver lesson

Young Driver is a groundbreaking driver training scheme, offering driving tuition to 10-17 year olds. It is the UK’S largest provider of pre-17 driving education and has delivered almost 500,000 lessons at 50+ venues nationwide – including Cheltenham Racecourse, Bicester and Moreton-in-marsh.

It’s about having fun, but it’s also helping youngsters become safer drivers, by educating them for longer.

Four hundred people lose their lives in accidents involving young drivers each year in the UK. Shockingly, the figures show one in five newly qualified drivers will crash within six months of passing their test, rising to 40 per cent of 17-year old males. But for those who have taken Young Driver lessons, the rate of accidents drops by more than a half, to fewer than one in ten.

Thirty- or sixty-minute lessons take place behind the wheel of a brand new, dual-controlled Vauxhall Corsa, with a highly qualified driving instructor. Lessons mirror those taken on the road at 17, but give youngsters the chance to take their time without any pressure to pass a test. A whole road system is created to help the drivers learn everything from changing gears and parking to using roundabouts and manoeuvring a slalom. The emphasis is on learning how to be a responsible driver, but it’s also great fun.

Young Driver also recently developed and launched the world’s first car specially designed for 5-10 year olds. The two-seater electric Firefly offers younger children their first taste of being behind the wheel, giving them a great insight into how they can keep themselves safe as a pedestrian or cyclist.

Vouchers for Young Driver lessons make a great idea for a present for difficult to buy for teens, and Young Driver runs birthday parties, as well as offering lessons in a luxurious Bentley at certain venues – perfect for chauffeuring parents around!
