Malvern Autumn Show in association with Westons Cider Mill is back for a bountiful weekend bursting with harvest fun, horticultural know-how and family entertainment on September 29-30.
More than 65,000 visitors are expected to join in the seasonal celebrations at the Three Counties Showground, situated at the foot of the picturesque Malvern Hills.
Head of Shows at Three Counties, Diana Walton, says, “The Malvern Autumn Show is a truly seasonal affair. We are lucky enough to be in the heart of one of the most productive areas of the country, and autumn is definitely our time to shine. Visitors can expect a bumper show this year with more world records expected in the CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, a brand-new gardening village with awardwinning nurseries in the Flower Show, and plenty of our furry and feathered friends in the World of Animals. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to celebrate the very best that autumn has to offer.”
Show-goers will be wowed once again by gargantuan gourds and monster marrows in the aweinspiring CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship. Returning for its fifth year, the championship draws colossal crowds and entrants all eagerly await the verdict of the official adjudicator to see if they can claim the coveted World Record title. This year sees four brand new categories: heaviest three sticks of rhubarb, heaviest kohlrabi, heaviest aubergine and longest radish.
This year also sees the all-new Gardening Village hosting the a Flower Show judged by the RHS that features more than 30 award-winning specialist nurseries to browse and stock up on old-favourites and brand-new varieties.
The Autumn Potager Theatre is another new addition for 2018. Hosted by popular food writer, Mark Diacono and welcoming celebrity chef Valentine Warner, the daily talks and demonstrations aim to inspire visitors to rustle up seasonal delights and make the most of autumn’s bounty.
It’s not just for food lovers though, the charming Gyles Brandreth is set to entertain with his signature witty repartee and Christine Robinson, the housekeeper for the renowned Chatsworth House offers advice on preparing the home for Christmas.
Gardening fans can look forward to an impressive line-up with much-loved Gardeners’ World stars Carol Klein and Joe Swift, as well as popular floral designer Jonathan Moseley.
Always a very family-friendly event, Malvern Autumn Show has an endless number of activities for both parents and youngsters to get stuck into.
From make-and-take crafts, to a vintage funfair, and pig agility at the World of Animals as well as flyball in the arena, there’s never a dull moment. Topped off with some fabulous lunch and snacks in the Food & Drinks Hall, brimming with brilliant local produce, and you have a packed day to keep the kids thoroughly entertained.
