Guardian owls

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

MY life on a small farm in Suffolk is rather dominated by little owls ( Town & Country, July 20). A year ago, a fox dug out a family nest in a tree stump, killing both adults. I managed to delve into the depths and found five two-day-old owlets. With the help of the Owl Sanctuary, they survived and returned home to me at eight weeks, where they have flourished and now raised families of their own. The gardens and woods are alive with the sound of these earnest, diurnal birds. I like to think they know my voice and spend their days watching over the house from various standpoints.
